Nuestra Santa Fe Archive and Summer Program

Posted on

Nuestra Santa Fe is a digital and public humanities project that seeks to document community memory and promote a sense of belonging among Santa Fe residents.

Through a series of seminars and workshops, Nuestra Santa Fe will prepare ten participants to employ historical meaning-making methods and contribute to the Nuestra Santa Fe archive. Youth participants in the program will:

  • develop critical perspectives about New Mexico history.
  • understand and apply basic oral history methods.
  • practice cataloging digital archival collections.
  • engage community members and experience history as a process.
  • recognize their capacity to be leaders and produce knowledge.

The pilot 2021 program will take place from June 07–July 2, 2021. The program will likely be virtual, with the possibility of some in-person meetings depending on the COVID-19 infection rate and state guidelines.

Participants must be 15-18 years old and enrolled at Capital High School, Santa Fe High School, or Santa Fe Indian School. Selected applicants will need to fill out volunteer paperwork as required by the city of Santa Fe and complete a background check. Each participant is expected to devote 5-10 hours per week to the program and will receive a $500 stipend.

Youth who fit the requirements specified above are invited to apply for the 2021 Nuestra Santa Fe Summer Program by completing this form:  https://forms.gle/zPCuvxsAXjQ8QhU6A.
