Winners of the Mayor’s Cup Poetry Contest

Posted by ajreilly on

Santa Fe is blessed with an impressive assortment of writers and poets whose musings inspire us all, and tonight some of our youngest and most talented poets will be celebrated at the virtual Governing Body meeting beginning at 5:00 p.m. link here: https://www.youtube.com/user/cityofsantafe

Santa Fe’s Youth Poet Laureate, Artemisio Romero y Carver, a junior at New Mexico School for the Arts, is also a leader of Earth Care’s Youth United for Climate Crisis Action, (YUCCA) and has helped to organize relief efforts for those impacted by COVID-19. He was named the city of Santa Fe’s second youth poet laureate by a panel of judges organized by the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry and Collected Works Bookstore. He competed for the honor with other finalists from local high schools.
In addition April is National Poetry Month, and to celebrate the Santa Fe Public Library and Mayor Webber sponsored the Mayor’s Cup Poetry Contest with the theme “What Santa Fe Means To Me—Especially Now.”
