Santa Fe Public Library September Closings
All locations of the Santa Fe Public Library will be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day. All locations will also close at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 for the Fiesta de Santa Fe. The Main Library will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 13 for Fiesta but the La Farge and Southside branches will be open their normal hours.
Santa Fe Raptor Center Program, September 8- 10
The Santa Fe Public Library presents the Santa Fe Raptor Center. The Center is a non-profit group that provides rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured wild birds as well as providing educational programs throughout the community. Volunteers will introduce raptors and answer questions after the program.
The Tibetan Yoga of Breath, La Farge, September 9, 14, 21 and 28
The Santa Fe Public Library presents the The Tibetan Yoga of Breath. This program will feature simple mindfulness exercises from the book by Anyen Rinpoche presented by Bird Thompson. Presenter, Bird Thompson has been a student of Tibetan Buddhism for 40 years and the last 9 years were with Anyen Rinpoche.

Friends of the Library Book Sale at the Main Library, Sept. 19 - 20, 2015
Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library will hold a book sale at the Main Library on September 19 and 20. Discount books will be located in the Tatum Community Room (2nd Floor) and specially-priced books will be available in the Southwest Room.
Saturday, Sept. 19: members only from 10:00 AM – Noon and open to the public from Noon – 4:00 PM.
Sunday, Sept. 20: 1:00 – 3:30 PM, open to the public, Bag Day in the Tatum Community Room
Speciality Books and items are individually priced. Discount books and items as follows: hardcover books $1.00 each, paperback books 50¢ each or 3 for $1.00, children’s books 25¢ each, CDs 50¢ per disc, videos & DVDs $1.00 each and cassettes 25¢ each.
Bag Days cost just $5.00 per bag. The new cloth bags from the city, Friends of Library bags, and Trader Joe size bags are acceptable. Bags will be provided as well.
New Mexico FamilyPass: Check it out at the Library
Governor Martinez announced the launch of the Department of Cultural Affairs’ FamilyPass, a partnership with local libraries throughout New Mexico, that provides a pass for free admission (up to 6 people) to 15 state museums and historic sites. Passes are now available at all branches of the Santa Fe Public Library for checkout. Patrons may borrow the pass, which circulates like other library materials, for up to one week. There is a $25 replacement fee for passes that are not returned. Users must sign an agreement to use the pass and fill out a survey after returning it.
Seeking Candidates for Library Board
The Santa Fe Public Library is seeking candidates for the Library Board. Members are appointed by the Mayor to represent the residents of Santa Fe. There are two city positions that are available. Applicants must live in the city of Santa Fe. Library Board members serve for three years without compensation.
The seven member Library Board was created as an advisory board to the City Council and is charged with working with the Library Administration to provide advice on policies such as the use of the library, book selection, acceptance of gifts and bequests, management and operation and other appropriate matters. The Library Board meets monthly.
New Self-Service Kiosks
The Santa Fe Public Library has installed new self-service kiosks at all locations. The new kiosks provide patrons with the freedom to independently process their own library transactions, while also providing staff with more time to assist patrons and work on other tasks. Patrons are able to check out all types of library materials using the kiosks. Just place all of the materials that you wish to check out in the slot and the kiosk will scan and check them out to you. If you have any questions circulation staff are available to assist you.
