The City will continue to take proactive steps to protect the safety and well-being of our community. Effective Monday, March 16, the City of Santa Fe will close all public libraries and recreation centers. The Santa Fe Public Library will close its three branches (Main, La Farge, and Southside).
Please hold all returns at home until we reopen, library book drops will be locked and returns will not be accepted until we reopen. We do not have late fees and will suspend fines for overdue items at this time, so please disregard any notices you may receive until we reopen.
We are closed to the public but will still be answering reference questions and library card inquiries at our email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will respond as soon as possible. We do not know when we will reopen, as the emergency continues to evolve. We will not be responding to emails of that nature, so please check the city’s website santafenm.gov for any updates.
Requesting materials, which are not part of the Santa Fe Public Library collection from another library, is called Interlibrary Loan, often referred to as ILL. Before submitting a request for an Interlibrary Loan, please check the Library Catalog to ensure that the library does not already own the item. Santa Fe Public Library cannot obtain materials through Interlibrary Loan that it owns.
To use this service, your Santa Fe Public Library account must be in good standing. A maximum of three Interlibrary Loan requests may be made in one calendar month. Please keep in mind that items may take two to four weeks to arrive.
You will be notified when Interlibrary Loan materials are ready for pick up in the same manner you are with items owned by the Santa Fe Public Library.
Please note that the following materials are not available through Interlibrary Loan:
- Books published within the last six months
- DVDs, VHS, CDs, and other non-print media
