Museum Passes

New Mexico FamilyPass

The Department of Cultural Affairs’ FamilyPass, a partnership with local libraries throughout New Mexico, provides free admission (up to 6 people) to 15 state museums and historic sites.

Passes are available at Santa Fe Public Library for checkout by card-holding residents. Patrons may borrow the pass, which circulates like other library materials, for up to two weeks. Museum passes may not be reserved or held and are available at all branches on a first-come-first-served basis.

The FamilyPass may be used at the following locations:

  • 7 New Mexico Historic Sites, Statewide
  • New Mexico History Museum/Palace of the Governors, Santa Fe
  • New Mexico Museum of Art on the Plaza and New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary in the Railyard, Santa Fe
  • Museum of International Folk Art, Santa Fe
  • Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Santa Fe
  • New Mexico Museum of Space History, Alamogordo
  • New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, Albuquerque
  • New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, Las Cruces
  • National Hispanic Cultural Center, Albuquerque

Share the Experience Pass (S.T.E.P)

Santa Fe Public Libraries are part of a program designed to connect Santa Feans in every neighborhood to the art and cultural sites that make Santa Fe an international destination, for free.

The program aligns directly to Culture Connects, the City’s roadmap for connecting citizens to culture. That process included specific recommendations to “Remove obstacles to meaningful and relevant cultural experiences for all,” and “Expand opportunities for young people to participate in cultural activities.”

The Pass gives free admission to seven cultural institutions in Santa Fe: the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, Santa Fe Botanical Garden, Santa Fe Children’s Museum, Rancho de las Golondrinas, New Mexico Museum of Art on the Plaza, and New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary in the Railyard.

Just like a library book, the pass is available on a check-out basis, so all you need is an up-to-date library card—free at any of Santa Fe’s three libraries—to get free admission for up to six people at the four Santa Fe cultural sites. Museum passes may not be reserved or held and are available at all branches on a first-come-first-served basis.

Once you check it out, the pass is good for fourteen days. Each person can check the pass out once every thirty days – and no advance reservations will be taken.

The S.T.E.P. Pass does not include access to certain special events or member-only activities, so some exclusions may apply.
