The Santa Fe Public Library Presents: Writing with a Purpose: An Introduction to the Writing Life.  What is it to be a “writer”?  Do you wish you could be a writer but do not know where to begin?  Maybe you have lost your way as a writer and need friendly encouragement to begin again.

In this free workshop, we will discuss different ways to approach writing, how to generate ideas, writing genres, writer’s block, and writing with a purpose.  Bring a notebook and pen or pencil, as we will also have a few no–‐pressure writing exercises.

Cindy Clark has more than 30 years of writing experience. She is familiar with writing for book reviews, newsletters, newspapers, magazines, peer-reviewed journals, television, and radio. Currently she serves as the leader of a writing center, providing editing services for researchers as well as training and tutorials on topics such as journal article publication, publication ethics, and copyright and plagiarism. In her free time, Cindy writes poetry and is working on her first novel. Cindy has a BA in Journalism and Public Communications and a Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS).

This is a free program sponsored by the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library.
