Come find out about the project, learn how to start seeds at home with the Santa Fe Extension Master Gardeners, and trade seeds at the seed swap. All ages are welcome!

Saturday, March 23, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Southside Branch Library (6599 Jaguar Dr.)

Schedule of Events:

1-2:30 p.m.: Opening Remarks, Seed Swap, and Information Fair

2:30-4 p.m.: Film Screening of Seed: The Untold Story

The Santa Fe Seed Library will provide open-pollinated seed to the Santa Fe Community and will encourage the development of a community of seed savers and seed stewards. The Santa Fe Seed Library is a collaboration between the Santa Fe Public Library and the Santa Fe Extension Master Gardeners. In addition to providing access to open-pollinated seeds, the Seed Library will offer a number of free public programs to help facilitate the growth of a community of climate-savvy gardeners.

The screening of Seed: The Untold Story is made possible by the Santa Fe Extension Master Gardeners.
Seed: The Untold Story synopsis (from film’s site):  Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind, Seed: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. SEED features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona Laduke, and Raj Patel.”
