Join Our Summer Reading Program: Fun, Free, and Flexible!
Get ready for a summer full of adventure and prizes with our Summer Reading Program! This is a fantastic way for your child to stay engaged and succeed when school starts again in the fall.
Here’s how it works:
What’s in it for Your Kids?
- Weekly Prizes: Every week, your child can win exciting prizes at the library.
- Grand Prize: They’ll have a chance to win a free bicycle and more!
- Flexibility: Kids can read on their own or have someone read to them. All reading materials count—library books, personal books, eBooks, magazines, graphic novels, and audiobooks.
- Read anywhere: Whether in the car, a fort, the library, or the park—if they’re reading, it counts!
How to Participate:
- Register: Sign up at any library branch or online at santafelibrary.beanstack.com. Registration starts on Monday, May 13 and ends on Saturday, July 13. When you register at the library, you can pick up a paper reading log and a free tote bag (while supplies last).
- Track Reading: Encourage your child to read weekly for seven weeks. They can track their reading online to earn digital badges and pick up weekly prizes from the library, including cool items like binoculars, adventure notebooks, water bottles, vinyl stickers, paracord bracelets, compasses, and plushies. Thanks to our program sponsors, they also win passes to the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, The Santa Fe Children’s Museum, and the Genova Chavez Community Center along with coupons for Dion’s, McDonald’s, and the Alley (while supplies last).
- Collect Prizes: Starting June 3, bring in the reading logs to pick up a prize and receive a free book. After completing the third week, your child will be entered into the grand prize drawing for each week they complete.
Important Dates:
- Last Day for Entries: The final day to earn an entry for the grand prize drawing is July 17. After this date, reading logs can still be turned in for weekly prizes, but no additional entries will be taken for the grand prize.
- Grand Prize Drawings: The exciting grand prize drawings will be held during our Summer Reading parties on July 19 and July 20.
